What will the hearing test consist of?
The test will take about 20-30 minutes.
First of all we will discuss your hearing history to understand what factors have influenced your hearing and to get more detailed information on your hearing difficulties and what we need to do to fix the problems.
You will be played a series of sounds through headphones and be asked to respond that you have heard the sound normally by pressing a button every time, no matter how quiet or faint.
We will explain the hearing loss and interpret the results from the hearing test and how it makes it difficult to for you to hear in certain situations.
We will also explain how hearing aids work and what type of hearing aid would be suited to your particular type of hearing loss.
After thoroughly checking your ears and testing your hearing, we will then demonstrate a suitable hearing system to you so that you may experience the level of improvement that we can expect to achieve.
Following this, we can look at the various styles and sizes of aids that suit your lifestyle, your budget and your cosmetic preferences.
Together we will discuss how you feel about your hearing and consider the areas of your life where clearer hearing would be of benefit.
During the appointment, we often let clients listen with a hearing aid. However, as many clients find that listening through a hearing aid in this situation is not a realistic environment, we are also able to offer a FREE ONE MONTH TRIAL with the hearing aids, to really test the performance of the hearing aid in your everyday lifestyle.
Over the trial period we will meet up several times, to fine-tune the trial hearing aids to suit your hearing needs.
Note: If you are unsure about the hearing test, it can sometimes be helpful to bring a family member or friend to the appointment, as the support of another can help us determine how a hearing loss can affect your lifestyle.
